Forgetting FEMA: Why the Government Agency (and many others) Ought to Go out of Commission

Do you agree that there should remain a Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) in the United States? Are the drawbacks of the government worth having it continue to exist?

The Potential Re-Emergence of the Tontine: How a Forgotten Product May Revolutionize America (Again)

This particular post struck me as odd.  I had never heard of a tontine before researching this topic.  I became intrigued at the idea of a group of individuals getting together (voluntarily) to contribute funds over a given amount of time to see who outlasts the others and reaps a money pot.  It's certainly something that the government should have nothing to do with at all. The only exception is to protect such individuals and allow free people to do what they want with their money no matter how "sleazy" the proposition appears to be.  It's a shorty but a goody and I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it.

The ED Ought to be DOA: A Free Market Solution for Education

From this article, I reaped great benefit at something that has the potential to upset me.  The fact that there continue to be government run schools is appalling.  The Department of Education (ED) is an abomination and one of the leading factors behind the fact that the United States educational system is in such disarray.  I wanted to get at the fact that most people do not consider the idea of private schooling to be the only proper way to teach children (and adults).  In a fully-free society, all property would be privately owned and that would include, of course, schools.

This article states mainly the urgent need for the elimination of the ED and for the implementation of a private model.

Now, if you find my words to be of some use, I am accepting donations of $3 or less.  I thank you in advance.

Red Rock, White Man: The Caucasian Quest for Exploring Mars

This post is pure satire.  Please be offended. Or not.  I just wanted to have fun with a subject that I find quite fascinating.  The Martian mythology has now become reality, to a degree.  It is not only possible for manned missions to visit the red rock, but probable–in a few years' time of course.  I enjoyed employing racial humor within this piece to stir the proverbial pot and to get young people of all colors interested in this most intriguing planet just beyond our skies.

Now, if this piece has upset you, surprised you, or motivated you, I am requesting $3 donations.  Feel free to also share this post with friends, family, and followers.  Your patronage is much appreciated.

Mr. Contradictions: The Mixed Premises of Martin Shkreli

For someone who appears to be a moral, capitalist, self-interested person, Martin Shkreli has demonstrated that he is none of these things.  I immersed myself in this particular case and have crafted sequels to follow up this post.  But in this particular article, I sought to display the irony and backwardness of Shkreli's case.  His fortune should reflect that he is a greedy, selfish businessman, not a confused little boy who feels he should be guilty about his productiveness.  Altruism, that fatal disease running through the veins of society must be checked and eliminated.  Otherwise we'll have a whole new crop of Martin Shkrelis.

Now, in the case that you find my article to be of some substance, I am requesting that you send $3 to my PayPal account. I do appreciate your patronage.

Hip Hop Savior?: The Potential of Slim Jesus

I must admit it.  I thought that this white boy known as Slim Jesus would be the rap god that that other white rapper, Eminem, raps about.  I took a loss on predicting that he would be the golden child of the hip hop genre, but I still offered an objective viewpoint on how he even came to modest prominence.  Though I missed the mark on this one, I relish the humor that I injected into this piece and I hope that you can appreciate it as well.

Now, if you find any merit in my work, I request $3 to my PayPal account. My email address is skylersaunders@gmail.com. If you can do less, I would be happy with that as well.  I thank you for your patronage.

Part of the Story: How Four Journalists went from Bylines to Headlines

These stories are sickening yet they motivated me to apply an objective perspective anyway. In the first report, the reckless, gay, Black monster who gunned down two people in the name of excuses and alleged disrespect, stands for the actual term of nigger. I queried whether LBGTQ groups would come out in defense of the assailant or not.  The other story made me ill in the way that a supposed professional journalist called out of turn and interrupted the then candidate for the President of the United States of America.  Now, both of these stories brought about a sense that the fourth estate should be considered a precious commodity and should be safeguarded from irrational, evil men and rude people.

Forthright: How 'Straight Outta Compton' Promotes Self-Empowered Black Men

I was taken by the sheer forcefulness and assertiveness that is present in the film.  With five Negro men with a band name that could reflect virtually every Black rap act, Niggaz Wit Attitudes (NWA) came onto the scene with street knowledge.  The film depicts them as going through the world as men with spines who stand for something and have something to say.  I enjoyed writing this piece and it is one of the few that came out as close as possible to the way I had envisioned it.  Kudos to all involved in the production of "Straight Outta Compton."

What God, Where?: The Unfortunate Religiosity of Today's Political Landscape

With the dust now settled from the Presidential race from two years ago, it is interesting to bring this particular piece up from the vault.  I wanted to show how mysticism and faith are so intertwined with political matters.  There is a definite sense that any atheist or secular notions within a political candidate could cause him or her disaster as far as polls are concerned.  So, enjoy this brief meditation on faith and politics as it relates to the Republican Party.

Rap Repute: How Hip Hop Artists Struggle to Live Up to Their Raps

It brought me great joy to pump the breaks and take a look at the genre of hip hop. I wanted to showcase the peculiar dealings that go on when friends become rivals and the dollars begin to pile up in response to beats, battles, and rhymes.  So, enjoy this little piece that I wrote back in the summer of 2015.

Now, if you find merit in my work, please feel free to share with friends, family, and followers.  Additionally, I am accepting $3 donations to keep the Skylerized train chugging along.

To Stop a Gunman: What Steps America Ought to Take to Curb Gun Violence

What I like about this short piece was the fact that I used different wordplay to convey a serious matter. I wrote, "It is often said that 'guns don’t kill people, people with guns kill people.' Another way to put it is that 'guns don’t kill people, bullets kill people.' The reality is that thinking people who are defending themselves (might) kill people trying to endanger their person or other persons of value or private property." I wanted to flip the clichés on their heads and present a fresh take on the argument. Guns and America go together like hot dogs and baseball.  It's an American tradition to carry a firearm.  But I go on to say that countries around the world are also entrenched in the gun culture and have been waging wars for nearly millenia.  What prevents someone from gunning down people without thought is to institute a culture of reason.

Now, if you find merit within my rhetoric, I am accepting currently $3 donations.  I thank you for your patronage.

The Fool Who Wanted to be President: Donald Trump's Troubling Essay to be the Leader of the Semi-Free World

For all those who came to point fingers and laugh at the clown only to watch that same clown go on to become the forty-fifth President of the United States of America, this post is for you.  I didn't get very intellectual here.  I just wanted to point out the potentially racist and hilarious aspects of Mr. Donald J. Trump.  I wanted to present him as a ridiculous example of cronyism brought from the ideal to reality.  Some parts were meant for humor purposes only while I denounced Mr. Trump's record.

As he stands currently as the leader of the semi-free world, we can only look forward to him doing good rather than continue the stale statist principles that his predecessors instituted.  His actions in this regard have yet to be seen.

Now, if you find merit within this post or my other works, I ask that you share them with your friends, family, and followers.  Also, I am accepting $3 donations.  Your patronage is much appreciated.  I thank you in advance.

The Stronghold: How to Empower America to Defend Itself

Somber reflection and words to embolden America characterize this piece published two years ago, exactly.  In the memory of the fallen, my intention was to show how the altruistic and selfless notions that the political leaders and military and police top brass spout must be corrected.  I sought to instill a sense of selfishness and pride along with why American troops and police fight for freedom, foreign and domestic, respectively.  But when that threat comes to the ones who fight foreign wars comes close to home, it ought to be dealt with in the most quick and responsive manner possible.  I dedicate this article to the memory of Marines (Lance Cpl. Skip Wells, Gunnery Sgt. Thomas Sullivan, Staff Sgt. David Wyatt, and Sgt. Carson Holmquist) and one sailor (Randall Smith).  May their families be comforted by the remnants of strength and resolve that exist within the United States military police forces.

Sincerely,

S.S.

Women of the Mind: Thoughts on Two Female Writers of American Literature

When I wrote this, Miss Harper Lee still had breath in her lungs. Since its publication, she has ceased to be (April 28, 1926 – February 19, 2016).  But that won't stop me from imparting to you good folks the virtues of her novels. After reading Ayn Rand's Ideal, I gained a greater understanding of the meaning of integrity.  Integrated within the plot of the story, Miss Rand addresses the virtue as a deep way of living one's life.  In order to achieve and maintain your values, you must employ integrity.

I wrote this piece to be sort of a dual thank you to two brilliant minds of American literature.  It was my pleasure to introduce to some and to present to others both Miss Lee and Miss Rand, though their bases of supporters remain rather large.  So, I challenge you to read this post and feel free to share with friends, followers, and family members.

Also, if you find merit in this work and my other pieces, I request that you send a $3 donation to help cover costs and keep quality content on the Internet.  I thank you in advance.

Consider the Fourth of July: What Americans Ought to do on Independence Day

This is a short and sweet piece that I would have loved to have posted twelve days ago.  Alas, here it is and I am happy with the way it turned out, actually.  I write to please myself only but that doesn't mean I don't keep the reader in mind.  I recognize that this is a rather curt and non-exhaustive study on Independence Day.  I assert that its length allows the layman and the professional alike to appreciate it as letters arranged to celebrate the greatest, noblest, and most moral nation in human history.  So happy belated July 4th, Americans.  And for those around the world, please recognize that the United States is still that shining city on the hill and should be respected and revered for our original documents.

From Bugatti Boyz to Rational Men: Hip Hop's Self-Esteem Makeover

I wanted to show how two of the biggest names in hip hop still seem to get into trouble despite their lofty statuses.  Within the genre, egoism has been supplanted by egotism.  Instead of being proud, almost every rapper extols the "virtues" of humility.  Narcissism, haughtiness, and unwarranted boasting run rampant in rap.  I wrote this piece to try to instill selfishness, pride, and individualism within the genre of hip hop.

I am asking for $3 donations to help keep SKYLERIZED a destination site for quality content.  Your patronage is much appreciated.  I thank you in advance.

Self Belief: How Blacks can Overcome Oppresion

My thoughts on this piece from June 2015 consist of anger, release, and reflection.  I was angered at the pathetic way that Negroes view their victimhood, released at the fact that Jews represent their suffering, and I reflect on the fact that Coloreds have a chance to change their ways and become strong and defiant and forward thinking when it comes to those that threaten them.

Now, I ask for $3 or less to support the cause of SKYLERIZED. In order to keep up the quality content, I am requesting that you share this story as well as my other works and make that donation.

Out of School: What Ought to be Done to Immoral School Faculties

This piece lead me down a path that critiqued one of my favorite authors, Malcolm Gladwell.  I knew that I had to be objective despite my respect and admiration for Mr. Gladwell's work.  The article allowed me to open up about the fact that the universities are the root to all of the evil in the West.   The ideas that professors dispense only serve to stunt the minds of the young and prepare them for gray, unfocused, unfulfilled, and unhappy, lives.  The power of Ayn Rand's words and works remain the only antidote to these vicious outcomes. So, enjoy this writing and feel free to share it with your friends, family, and followers. Thanks!

Sincerely,

Still an Individual: The Roles of Gender and the Mind

I wrote this piece in the intention of saying no matter the gender, one remains an irreducible sum.  Now, An individual is one who can stand on his or her own mind and be efficacious. Greed is the Greater Good: Why Avarice is a Virtue

I wanted to give an idea of the late eighties early nineties titans of industry in misters Tudor Jones, Gates, and Jobs. There is a thread of intensity and fiery determination present within these men during these decades.  Sadly, only Jobs possessed the ability to reject philanthropy on terms that it can be false and disingenuous.  Still, during those years, all these men exemplified the selfish, greedy, ambitious traits that go with running multi-billion-dollar companies.
